DISPENSATIONALISM is a religious interpretive system and metanarrative for the Bible. It considers Biblical history as divided by God into dispensations, defined periods or ages to which God has allotted distinctive administrative principles. According to dispensationalist theology, each age of God's plan is thus administered in a certain way, and humanity is held responsible as a steward during that time. Dispensationalists' presuppositions start with the harmony of history as focusing on the glory of God and put God at its center - as opposed to a central focus on humanity and their need for salvation. A dispensational perspective can be seen in the writings of Jewish sects dating from around the time Christianity arose, for example in the Dead Sea Scrolls Community Rule. Early Christian fundamentalists embraced the system as a defense of the Bible against religious liberalism and modernism, and dispensationalism became the majority position within Christian fundamentalism.
DISPENSATION, noun [Latin See Dispense.]
1. Distribution; the act of dealing out to different persons or places; as the dispensation of water indifferently to all parts of the earth.
2. The dealing of God to his creatures; the distribution of good and evil, natural or moral, in the divine government.
Neither are Gods methods or intentions different in his dispensations to each private man.
3. The granting of a license, or the license itself, to do what is forbidden by laws or canons, or to omit something which is commanded; that is, the dispensing with a law or canon, or the exemption of a particular person from the obligation to comply with its injunctions. The pope has power to dispense with the canons of the church, but has no right to grant dispensations to the injury of a third person.
A dispensation was obtained to enable Dr. Barrow to marry.
4. That which is dispensed or bestowed; a system of principles and rites enjoined; as the Mosaic dispensation; the gospel dispensation; including, the former the Levitical law and rites; the latter the scheme of redemption by Christ.

Galatians Versus Hyper Dispensationalism
By Pastor Art Watkins of Coden Bible Church (Coden, Alabama)
A Comment From Pastor Art Watkins
Roger,
The way I define dispensationalism is this: It is one of many methods of Bible study and interpretation created by men to promote their private doctrines and pet theories about the Bible. Being created by men it is subject to error and false doctrine. Dispensationalism is not inspired. It is not infallible. It is not sacred. And I do not hesitate to point out its many errors and false teachings. It has its good points but the bad outweighs the good.

Example 1: Hyper Dispensationalism says the Church began with Paul. Galatians says otherwise. See Galatians 1:13 below.
Galatians 1:13
13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
Paul persecuted the church of God, and wasted it, before he was saved. So, the Church existed before Paul. The fact is, the Church began with Christ, the head. When God raised Christ from the dead, He set Christ at His right hand, and made Him the head of the Church. See Ephesians 1:16-23 below.
Ephesians 1:16-23
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
Christ is the head and the begining of the Church. See Colossians 1:18 below.
Colossians 1:18
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Example 2: Hyper Dispensationalism says Peter and Paul preached two different Gospels. Galatians says otherwise. Dispensationalists use Galatians 2:7 to say this. See Galatians 2:7 below.
Galatians 2:7
7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
Galatians 1:8-9 below points out there is only ONE GOSPEL. If there were two Gospels, God would be contradicting Himself. No! God does not contradict Himself. If Peter did preach a different Gospel than Paul, he would be accursed of God. Peter and Paul preached the same Gospel!
Galatians 1:8-9
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Paul preached to the uncircumcision, and Peter preached to the circumcision, but the message was the same. For Paul's message see 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 below. For Peter's message see 1 Peter 3:18, 1 Peter 2:24, and 1 Peter 1:18-19 below. Same message, different audiences.
Paul
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Peter
1 Peter 3:18
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1 Peter 2:24
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
1 Peter 1:18-19
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Example 3: Hyper Dispensationalism says Paul preached salvation by grace, and that Peter preached salvation by works. Not so! Galatians says otherwise. Look at Galatians 2:21 below. Works salvation comes by the law. Only Jesus completed this, no man could. So, Jesus was the perfect sacrifice that God would accept. Both Peter and Paul preached the cross for salvation. In Acts 15:7-11 below, we see Peter stating salvation comes to both Jew and Gentile alike by the cross of Christ.
Galatians 2:21
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Acts 15:7-11
7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
Example 4: Hyper Dispensationalism says Peter was justified by works, and that Paul was justified by grace. Galatians says otherwise. See Galatians 2:11-20 below. Verse 16 makes it perfectly clear, that both Peter and Paul are both justified by faith without works.
Galatians 2:11-20
11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,
16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Example 5: Hyper Dispensationalism says that Paul preached eternal security, but Peter went around saying they could lose their salvation. Again, look at Galatians 2:21 below. This verse says, that those who preach the cross could not preach works for either getting saved, or staying saved, if they did, this would frustrate the grace of God and make Christ's death in vain. Salvation is getting saved, and staying saved! Christ did all the work for us! God does not double talk. There are not contradictions with God.
Galatians 2:21
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Example 6: Hyper Dispensationalism says prior to Paul, men were saved by keeping the law. Galatians destroys this thinking. There are four things the law could never do. Three of them are in Galatians. The law can not justify. The law can not give eternal life. The law can not give the righteousness of God. The law can not take away sin. Look at Galatians 3:11, Galatians 3:21, and Hebrews 10:4 below. Abraham was justified by faith, and so are we today.
Galatians 3:11
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Galatians 3:21
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
Hebrews 10:4
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Example 7: Hyper Dispensationalism says Paul did not preach the new birth, and that no one is born again today. (Note - Being born again is being born of God's Spirit.) Galatians 4:28-29 below says different. Also, look what Jesus said in John 3:3 below.
Galatians 4:28-29
28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
John 3:3
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Example 8: Hyper Dispensationalism says the heavenly city, New Jerusalem, is Israel's promise, and not ours too, the Gentiles. Galatians 4:26 below says otherwise. Die in the Lord, and this is where you will be, in the New Jerusalem.
Galatians 4:26
26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

Example 9: Hyper Dispensationalism says that God never promised to save heathen pagan idol worshiping Gentiles. Galatians says otherwise. Look at Galatians 3:7-8 below. Also, look at what God said to Abraham in Genesis 22:18 below.
Galatians 3:7-8
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
Genesis 22:18
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
Example 10: Hyper Dispensationalism says that way in the future, God is going to change the Gospel of grace, and send men to preach salvation by works. Look what Paul says in Galatians 1:6-9. Paul was amazed at how messed up men can get, in such a short time... There has only been ONE GOSPEL throughout the Holy Bible.
Galatians 1:6-9
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Example 11: Hyper Dispensationalism says that the 12 Apostles were the Kingdom Preachers, and not Paul. Galatians says otherwise. Look at Galatians 5:19-21 below. Here it is! Paul speaks of the Kingdom as an inheritance. Further, the Apostle Paul speaks of the Kingdom more than any other Apostle. Take a look at Acts 20:24-25 below. When Paul preached the Gospel of grace, he preached the Kingdom of God. When Paul preached the Kingdom of God, he preached the Gospel of grace. The Kingdom of God is your inheritance when you believe the Gospel of grace.
Galatians 5:19-21
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Acts 20:24-25
24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
Example 12: Hyper Dispensationalism says the new covenant belongs to Israel, and not to the Church. Galatians says otherwise. You and I today are partakes of Israel's spiritual things. Look at Galatians 4:21-31 and Galatians 5:1 below. There is more new covenant saints than old. Why? Because the new covenant is an everlasting covenant. The old covenant, the law, ended. The new covenant never ends.
Galatians 4:21-31
21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.
Galatians 5:1
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Example 13: Hyper Dispensationalism says that the Israel of today is completely fallen, and is cast away. Galatians says otherwise. Look at Galatians 6:15-16 below. Verse 16 shows that all of Israel was not cast away. The nation of Israel now over in the middle east is not the Israel of God. The Israel of God may live amongst them. Meaning, sure there are some believers in Christ living in the country of Israel today. There has always been two Israels. Those who believe in the works of Christ, and those who do not believe in the works of Christ. Look at Romans 11:25 below.
Galatians 6:15-16
15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
Romans 11:25
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
Example 14: Hyper Dispensationalism says that no one preached what Paul preached before him. They say, what Paul preached was brand new, and never preached before. Galatians says otherwise. Look at Galatians 1:21-24 below. Paul once destroyed what he now preaches. So, there were others before Paul, that preached what Paul preached.
Galatians 1:21-24
21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
22 And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:
23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
24 And they glorified God in me.
21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
22 And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:
23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
