THE WORD OF CHRIST Pastor Art Watkins of Coden Bible Church (Coden, Alabama) January 22, 2019 Colossians 3:16: Let the WORD OF CHRIST dwell in you richly in all wisdom. 1 Timothy 6:3: If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the WORDS OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness. What are the words of Christ? The words he spoke. To whom and when did he speak? At least 3 major times and places. ****He Spoke To The Prophets In The Old Testament By His Spirit**** 1 Peter 1:10-11: Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. When you read the prophets in the Old Testament you are reading what Christ spoke to them by his Spirit. ****He Spoke In Person In The Four Gospels**** John 3:34: FOR HE WHOM GOD HATH SENT SPEAKETH THE WORD OF GOD: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. John 12:48: He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not MY WORDS, hath one that judgeth him: THE WORD THAT I HAVE SPOKEN, THE SAME SHALL JUDGE HIM IN THE LAST DAY. ****HE SPOKE TO THE APOSTLES FROM HEAVEN**** Hebrews 1:1-2: God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days SPOKEN UNTO US BY HIS SON, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. Hebrews 12:25: See that ye REFUSE NOT HIM THAT SPEAKETH. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that SPEAKETH FROM HEAVEN. When you read the epistles of the apostles you are reading the words that Christ spoke to them from heaven. So is evident that no matter if you read the Old Testament or the New Testament you reading the words of Christ. The words of Christ are either the words he spoke to the prophets or the words he spoke to the apostles or the words he spoke in person.
