PETER AND PAUL PREACHED THE SAME GOSPEL Pastor Art Watkins of Coden Bible Church (Coden, Alabama) December 2, 2015 One of the many heresies taught by hyper dispensationalists is the heresy that Peter and Paul preached two different and opposing gospels. Even though Paul said that if any man, including the other apostles or even him, preached a gospel different from his he was accursed of God in Galatians 1:8-9, the “hypers” still insist that Peter did not preach what Paul preached. But what saith the scriptures? The Cross When Paul preached the gospel he preached the sacrificial death and resurrection of Christ for salvation. He wrote: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4: For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: When Peter preached the gospel, he also preached the sacrificial death and resurrection of Christ for salvation. He wrote: 1 Peter 3:18: For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: He wrote: 1 Peter 1:18-19: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: He wrote: 1 Peter 2:24: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. Salvation By Grace When Paul preached the gospel, he declared men are saved by grace and grace is the free unmerited and unearned favor of God bestowed upon undeserving sinners. He wrote: Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. When Peter preached the gospel, he preached salvation by grace also. He said in Acts 15:11: But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. In this same chapter, Peter defines salvation by grace by describing the salvation of Cornelius which took place in Acts 10. He said that Cornelius received the Holy Ghost and was saved by faith in verses 8-9, without keeping the Law in verse 10 and without being circumcised, by grace in verse 11 and before he was baptized. (See Acts 10:48) This is exactly what Paul preached. Dear reader: I ask you, did Peter and Paul preach the cross for salvation? Did they both preach salvation by grace? The answer is obviously yes. But these hyper dispensationalists still insist they preached two different and opposing gospels! This is what hyper dispensationalism does to people minds. They can read simple verses like these and deny they mean what they say and say what they mean. The devil uses the heresies of hyper dispensationalism to blind the minds of professing Christians from seeing and believing any truth that contradicts its many false doctrines. This is what modern dispensationalism has become and is a good reason to get out of it.
