OF COURSE GOD SEES OUR SINS TODAY By Pastor Art Watkins of Coden Bible Church (Coden, Alabama) April 21, 2010 Many Christians do not like to hear the word sin mentioned from the pulpit today. Why? Because people have been taught that God does not see their sins today and when a preacher like me preaches against sin and calls sin by its first name they get angry. There are hyper dispensationalists who think it is sin to preach against sin! They think that we should not preach against sin because God has put sin away and he does not see it anymore. A friend of mine with whom I went to Bible school with in the 1960’s had a job working for a preacher I have known for years. He told me that in all the years he worked for this preacher he never once preached against sin. Why? Because he is one of these preachers who thinks God does not see our sins today. But is that true? Is God blind to believer’s sins today? What saith the scriptures? The fact is God sees every one of them. How do we know this is true? (1) Because he chastises believers under grace. (1 Cor. 11:32) How could God chastise believers for sin if he didn't see their sins? (2) Because some believers will suffer loss at the judgment seat of Christ. How could a Christian suffer loss for his sins and bad works if God didn't see them? (1 Cor. 3:15) (3) Because God calls some Christians carnal. (1 Cor. 3:1-3) A carnal Christian is one who walks after the flesh and lives in sin. If God does not see our sins, there would be no such thing as a carnal Christian. (4) Because God told us to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. (2 Cor. 7:1) Why would God make such a command if he didn't see the filthiness of our flesh and spirit? When it comes to our standing God does not see our sin, all he sees is his Son. But when it comes to our state in the world he sees all of our sins. Our standing determines our salvation and our state determines our spirituality and rewards. The trouble with many Christians is that they cannot see both at the same time, or they see one and not the other.
