FOUR BIBLE CONFERENCES I WISH I COULD HAVE ATTENDED Pastor Art Watkins of Coden Bible Church (Coden, Alabama) August 27, 2015 ----(1) The Forty Day Bible Conference Between Christ And The Apostles Before He Went Back To Heaven. Acts 1:2-3: He through Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. ----(2) The Bible Conference Between All The Apostles Concerning Gentile Salvation. Act 15:3-6: And being brought on their way by the church, they (Paul and Barnabus) passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren. And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them. But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses. And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter. ----(3) The All Night Bible Conference Between Paul And His Converts In Troas. Acts 20:7-11: And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together. And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed. ----(4) The All Day Bible Conference Between Paul And The Jews in Rome. Acts 28:23-24: And when they had appointed him (Paul) a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not. I have often wondered what it was like to sit and listen to Christ the master teacher teach the Bible for 40 days as he did in Acts 1. I don’t think I would have got tired, would you? I wonder what it was like to see and hear Paul and all of the apostles discuss the issue of gentile salvation in Acts 15? That was one of the most important Bible Conferences in the book of Acts, for the conclusion they reached effects the salvation of us gentiles and Jews today. I wonder what it was like to hear Paul teach the Bible all night long as he did in Acts 20 and from morning till evening in Acts 28? In the book of Acts believers took the Bible and those who taught it serious. But today, sad to say many so called Bible Conferences are nothing more than beauty pageants for preachers.
